A few paragraphs John McGahern's short story
Gold Watch describing the protagonist's annual trip home to help save the hay, provided a starting point for this meditation on the between-ness of the migrant - always living between two places. I shot the video on the train from Dublin, where I live, and Carrick On Shannon, where the exhibition took place. The magic-hour sunlight cast shadows from the landscape onto the pages of the book.
