Installation. Bent frosted acrylic, transistor radio, a copy of A Pattern Language, 2 looped videos (SD, 16:9, silent), 1 looped audio piece, 3 DVD players, 2 projectors, an amplifier, speakers, cables, cable ties and tracing paper.

A few paragraphs John McGahern's short story Gold Watch describing the protagonist's annual trip home to help save the hay, provided a starting point for this meditation on the between-ness of the migrant - always living between two places. I shot the video on the train from Dublin, where I live, and Carrick On Shannon, where the exhibition took place. The magic-hour sunlight cast shadows from the landscape onto the pages of the book.
In Christopher Alexander's book A Pattern Language, the section which deals with XXX explicitly references migration from Leitrim in the 50s. QUOTE.
