While on residency at the Mattress Factory in Pittsburgh, I made a trip across Pennsylvania to try to find some of the locations used in the movie adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's book The Road. I didn't find the tunnel through the mountains I was looking for, but I did encounter the strange space of Breezewood, PA. Later in the year, I made a return trip driving a rental car and as I approached Breezewood on the highway, I began to read aloud any text I could see, as I saw it.
Approaching Breezewood was included in the group show 'HaVE A LoOk! HAve a Look!', FormContent, London, UK. (7 May—11 July 2010). The recording, which was 'broadcast' on-line the first weekend of the show on the FormContent website. My participation in 'HaVE A LoOk! HAve a Look!' was co-curated by Chris Fite-Wassilak and Kate McLarnon.
Approaching Breezewood was included in Harboring tone and place at CCS Bard Galleries, Bard University, USA, from March 27th to April 17th, 2011. The show was curated by Clark Solack.
Approaching Breezewood was also included in The Driver and the Passenger, a solo show at Green On Red, Dublin from 6th Oct to 6th Nov 2010.
