The
accumulated documentation of Anti-tour No.1 - Magic Hour was overlapped
with VOID's two gallery spaces to create a meditation on documentation and memory.
Gallery One hosted a table and chairs, a sofa, a stereo system playing audio
recordings from the anti-tour, a tv showing a video by Lena Amorim of one of
the Rio anti-tour concerts. Images taken by attendees of the concerts were combined
with diagrams and suspended from custom acrylic hangers attached to the ceiling.
Gallery Two was completely blacked out. The ambient sound from Gallery One (audio
playback combined with the very strong acoustic) was relayed from a microphone
in the space through the wall, to a laptop computer in Gallery Two. The computer
slowly adjusted the volume of the live audio feed from silence to high volume,
pulsing its screen in synchronisation. Effectively the computer acted as an
expensive light fixture, so the room was totally dark when the audio was loudest
and a little brighter when the space was silent.
Mounted on one of the pillars in Gallery Two was a custom made moving image
display device playing a short loop of low resolution video documentating the
installation in Gallery One.
